Where Is Djibouti Located? Djibouti Map

Djibouti is a country of 23,000 km2, located in the Horn of Africa, bordering Ethiopia, Eritrea, Somalia (Somaliland since 1991) and Yemen.

The Republic of Djibouti is halfway between Ecuador and the Tropic of Cancer. Its location on the eastern coast of Africa at the southern mouth of the Red Sea, that is, between the Suez Canal and the Gulf of Aden, is at the origin of its strategic importance.

Djibouti has a coastline of 314 km, from the Red Sea to the Indian Ocean, through the Strait of Bab el Mandeb, this facade extends from Cape (ras) Doumera, in the north, to the village of Loyada, to the south. The Gulf of Aden sinks into the mainland through the Gulf of Tadjoura, extended by the Ghoubbet-el-Kharab, born from an opening of the East African rift.

The territory has a great diversity of landscapes: mountains to the north, lakes such as Lake Assal and Lake Abbe, desert areas such as the Grand and Petit Bara.

Recent volcanic activity has shaped the landscape. The last active volcano on the territory is Ardoukoba.

Djibouti shares 127 kilometers (79 miles) of the border with Eritrea, 344 kilometers (214 miles) with Ethiopia and 63 kilometers (39 miles) with Somalia (total 530 kilometers or 330 miles). It has a strategic location on the Horn of Africa and Bab el Mandeb, along a road crossing the Red Sea and the Suez Canal. The Djibouti coast serves as a commercial bridge between the Arabian Peninsula and the interior of the Horn region. The country is also the terminus of rail traffic in Ethiopia.

Natural hazards include earthquakes, drought and occasional cyclone disturbances in the Indian Ocean, which bring heavy rains and flash floods. Natural resources include geothermal energy. Insufficient supply of drinking water, limited arable land and desertification are current problems.

Djibouti is party to international agreements on biodiversity, climate change, desertification, endangered species, the law of the sea, protection of the ozone layer, ship pollution and wetlands.

There is not much seasonal variation in the climate of Djibouti. Warm conditions prevail throughout the year with winter rains. Mean daily maximum temperatures range from 32 to 41 ° C (90 to 106 ° F), except at high altitudes. In the city of Djibouti, for example, the highest in the afternoon in April generally ranges from 28 ° C (82 ° F) to 34 ° C (93 ° F) in April. At the national level, average daily minima generally range from about 15 to 30 ° C (59 to 86 ° F) between sites. The largest climatic range is found in eastern Djibouti, where temperatures sometimes exceed 41 ° C in July in the coastal plains and fall below the freezing point in December in the highlands. In this region, the relative humidity ranges from about 40% in the middle of the afternoon to 85% at night, depending on the season.

Thanks for the different tips shared on this blog site. I have realized that many insurers offer buyers generous savings if they elect to insure more and more cars with them. A significant variety of households possess several cars these days, particularly those with more aged teenage children still located at home, along with the savings with policies might soon mount up. So it pays off to look for a great deal.
