Where Is Czech Republic Located In The World?

The Czech Republic, is a central European country without access to the sea, surrounded by Poland to the northeast, Germany to the northwest and west, Austria to the south and Slovakia to the southeast.

Czech geography is varied; the western part, Bohemia (Čechy in Czech), consists of a hilly plateau, crossed by the Elbe and the Vltava, surrounded mainly by low mountains like the Sudeten Mountains, the Giant Mountains where we can also find the highest point of the country, the Sniejka (Sněžka in Czech) which rises to 1,602 m. Moravia, to the east, is also rather mountainous and is watered mainly by the Morava, but also shelters the source of Oder (Odra in Czech).

The local climate is temperate, with hot summers and cold, cloudy, wet winters, an example of combined continental and oceanic influences.

Bringing together the historic regions of Bohemia, Moravia, and part of Silesia, the Czech Republic is formally born on 1 January 1969 of the federalization of Czechoslovakia.

It has been independent since 1 January 1993 on the occasion of the split of the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic, the last form of government of Czechoslovakia.

The Czech Republic has been a member of NATO since 12 March 1999 and has been part of the European Union since 1 May 2004.

From the emerging countries of Central Europe, the Czech Republic offers the most industrialized and developed economy. It is one of the most stable and prosperous countries among the former communist countries.

From the Velvet Revolution (17-24 November 1989) to the present day, the country has had to dismantle one of the most rigidly planned economies in the region and make a transition to a market economy and then ensure its own economic and legislative preparation for enlargement of the European Union. In 2015, 31% of its foreign trade is with Germany, compared to only 5% with France20.

The currency is the Czech crown.
